Night At The Tupelo

The Tupelo went awesome! What an amazing experience!!! Although just being an open mic, many great artists have played that venue. To know you were on the same stage as them is like no other feeling! I recently saw Mindy Smith there and I was so wishing to be up on that stage too. Thanks Tupelo for making that happen!!

First of all, we want to thank our loving, supportive spouses! We love all of our new fans but it's them who mean the most to be there for us :) Josh was really good about getting some butts in the seats! So many people showed up to see us! It was so awesome to have so much support! Hopefully I'm not forgetting anyone but I counted 28 of our friends/family came!! That makes a crowd of 30 with Steve and I and it didn't go unnoticed!! The host, on stage, asked what was going on on our side of the room and asked who all the people were there to see. That brought the attention of the room directly to us and helped get us a little more exposure. That was really cool!!!

I wasn't really as nervous as I imagined I'd be. Steve didn't seem nervous at all... he's a pro! It wasn't until they announced that the order for performers was ready and I saw that we were third. That's when my nerves kicked in! We played 2 songs. "Women Be Wise" and "Hurt". The videos will be posted above. The host once again got up and said, "I don't think I've ever seen anyone make such an impression on the crowd on their first time being here." What?!?!? That was sooooo awesome to hear!! Can you imagine all the open mics he's hosted!? What a huge complement for us!!!! I wanted to do more!! What was cool too, by the end of he night, they had extra time so they asked all those new to the Tupelo open mic night to come up for another song!!!!! YES!!! The words were barely out of the host's mouth when I responded, yes! I looked over at Steve and we gave each other the excited thumbs up :) Another song!!!!! We did "If I Ain't Got You". We didn't get video of this one but I think it went well based on the applause.

Thanks to my awesome partner, I was so thrilled to have an experience I'll never forget!! Steve played awesome!!!! He even made some margaritas to share ;) Since it went well, we plan on trying to find a coffee shop or restaurant to play a small set. A real gig :) I can't believe how we've gotten this far in such a short time! I'm looking forward to seeing where we can go with this!!!!

  1. Hey, I get to be the 1st commenter AGAIN. How cool is that?

You guys sounded great. Becky, I knew that you would sing great; what really impressed me was your stage presence and your ability to introduce the songs in a very entertaining way. Most 1st timers would be tripping over their tongues. You did great!

Steve, YAWN.. you did your usual awesome job. same ole same ole.... It would be great to hear you throw some of your cool guitar leads into the mix. Don't worry about upstaging Becky - NEVER GONNA HAPPEN! LOL

Hey Becky, did I tell you that I'm thinking of starting my own project with Steve? I'm going to call it: "The Center of Anxiety". What do you think? :-)

Seriously, you guys were AWESOME. Can't wait for your next gig!
