After a long break....

we have finally gotten back to practicing! There were a few opportunities we had over the last year to play together but we started up an official practice on Wednesday the 21st. What will Corners of Serenity be up to? Working on more covers? Originals? Stay tuned to find out!

Our progress...

Hi all! It's been quite some time since we posted anything. We've either been sick or busy... but here's where we're at...

It'll do your hearts good to know that we haven't been slacking though!! We've been working out a ton of originals!! I counted a potential 19 in the works! Whenever we get together to practice... we seem to be able to get a whole song worked out in a matter of a few hours. We're pretty excited about all the progress :) We hope to have a CD for the public soon!!! Although we're still debating about using a studio or just using the nice recording equipment Steve has... I can assure you it will be great! So far we've had a ton of requests for a CD!

On a sad note, one of our fans who made me shake on it that he would be the first to buy an autographed CD has passed away. I want to mention him because he, a fellow musician, really was very encouraging and enthusiastic about our music. He shared our cover CD with his family members whom I had never met. His sister at his funeral brought our CD into the funeral home and asked everyone around who the band members were and if they were there. I let her know it was me and she began to relate to me how much her brother was moved by our music. She told me she wanted to keep our CD because he loved it so much! Needless to say I was amazed and felt really blessed we were able to affect someone like that so much that it spilled over onto others! He was a great guy with a very big heart. He will be missed by many!

So we'll try not to keep you waiting long! I'll keep you posted!! :)

Goodbye 2010... Here we come 2011!

I can't believe it's already 2011!! When I look back on 2010, I really have a lot to be thankful for!! So far...

~My goal of being in a band- check
~My goal of singing with a full band- check
~My goal of playing out in front of people- check
~My goal of playing a paying gig- check
~My goal of writing originals- check
~My goal of actually playing them out with good feedback- check!!!!

All of this would not have been possible if it wasn't for my good friend Jenn introducing the idea to her dad, Steve back in May! I'm amazed at how easy and fun this has been!! We had an excellent year of progress and still are working toward future goals! Steve's talent mixed with the musical craziness going on in my head jut happened to be a great fit!!

We played our originals at a few private parties and most recently, my company "End of the Year" party. We had the owner and his wife, the vice president, the general manager and all other employees as an audience. Everyone really seemed to have a great time and we got some awesome feedback at all of the parties! We now have a request to play again for all 3 companies this summer!!!

So... the list may change but as of now... here are our future goals for 2011:

1.) Write enough originals for a 12 song CD - (we have 11 in the works right now!)

2.) Get our T-Shirt designs and our website running.

3.)Learn more covers and include originals so we have a 4 hr set list. We have offers to play more gigs (one being the Coach Stop Restaurant) if we have 4 hours of material, so we'd love to do that!

4.) Play out more... nursing homes, restaurants, coffee houses

We hope you plan to grow with us this year and continue to be our loyal supporters!!

Thanks for patience :)

We had a great time trying out our originals this past Thursday at the Tupelo open mic!! Thank you all who came to support us!! We knew we may be in for a late night but were hoping not and unfortunately we got drawn #18 :( . We didn't get to play till almost 11:00PM!! By then most people had shuffled out but not our loyal supporters!!!

We want to extend our thanks to the guys at the Tupelo who gave us some very nice complements on our style and our music! This is such an encouragement for us and keeps us motivated to continue :)

Thank you also to anyone who helped with the shirt poll we have going on!! We really appreciate your input!! If you have any ideas or suggestions not listed... just email us at cornersofserenity@gmail.com with the subject line labeled "shirt idea".

New Poll...

Hey everyone!!! We have a new poll at the bottom of the page. Please visit it and let us know what you think for some shirt ideas!!

It's been a while...

No... we haven't vanished off the planet or anything! We've just been busy :)

After our success in Groton, we really got some motivation to get working on some originals. You might be surprised to know that we have 6 so far, and 3-5 in the works right now! We plan to put out a 12 song CD in the near future. As soon as we get a whole CD we plan to get them all copy written and share them with you all here! We've played them at 2 parties and so far we've had awesome feedback!! We really appreciate all the support from everyone! It really motivates us :)

We're happy to announce that we also officially registered our band name, so we own "Corners of Serenity".

We have been working on band shirts as well! We have had a bunch of ideas flood in about what would be good, but to you, as our loyal fans and followers, please give us some input on what you'd like to see on our shirts!! We'd take suggestions, drawings, samples... whatever you can add would help us a lot! Our main goal is that people will want to wear and will feel comfortable in them. So please leave your comments or email us at cornersofserenity@gmail.com

Steve says.....
Hi Gang!! Rabecca & I were planning on making T-shirts that we would like our friends to wear on a regular basis... With that thought in mind we are looking to you for some input..!! With so many options available we are hoping to narrow things down a bit and at the same time design something everyone would like to wear...!!

1) Would you like something on the back as well as the front of the shirt???

2) Should we use our logo??? or make a design with our name?? Any other suggestions will be appreciated

3) Colors??? Black, Blue, Red, ETC.??? What color would you wear on a regular basis???

Please take a minute and post some comments.... We would like to make something that you will all be happy to wear...

Thanks!!! Look forward to hearing from you soon!!!!

Rockin' on Main Street

Here's how it all went down.....

We arrived early at the cafe to set up and eat. It was a great feeling knowing that in a short while, we would be there... center stage... all ears and eyes on us!!

As time passed our friends and family piled in. Although it was great to have all of them there (especially the ones who traveled), I really loved seeing the faces I didn't recognize, people just visiting the cafe. I even had one surprise from a guy at work (a fellow musician) who showed up with his wife. It was very nice to see them and they said they'd definitely come again.

Nerves were surprisingly low when we started the show. We just kept saying to each other in days prior the we were just having fun and to let loose. I feel like we did that for sure! It definitely was fun and we smoothed over anything in our way.

During our break we had Kool Stream Runnin' come out and fill the time. Unfortunately, this meant no real break for Steve since he was part of that band too. They did awesome as usual and really got the crowd going with some old, familiar favorites.

Over all it was an awesome experience and is now one of the things I can cross off my music life goal list. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to be hired with Steve to play. We made out very well in T.I.P.S too!! Watch out day job!! One visitor (not family or friend) yelled out a thank you after we finished "At Last" and it was reported to me that he immediately left to visit the nearby ATM and came back to drop a little something in for us!! How awesome is that??!!

We'll keep you posted on where we plan to show up next!!!
