New Poll...

Hey everyone!!! We have a new poll at the bottom of the page. Please visit it and let us know what you think for some shirt ideas!!

It's been a while...

No... we haven't vanished off the planet or anything! We've just been busy :)

After our success in Groton, we really got some motivation to get working on some originals. You might be surprised to know that we have 6 so far, and 3-5 in the works right now! We plan to put out a 12 song CD in the near future. As soon as we get a whole CD we plan to get them all copy written and share them with you all here! We've played them at 2 parties and so far we've had awesome feedback!! We really appreciate all the support from everyone! It really motivates us :)

We're happy to announce that we also officially registered our band name, so we own "Corners of Serenity".

We have been working on band shirts as well! We have had a bunch of ideas flood in about what would be good, but to you, as our loyal fans and followers, please give us some input on what you'd like to see on our shirts!! We'd take suggestions, drawings, samples... whatever you can add would help us a lot! Our main goal is that people will want to wear and will feel comfortable in them. So please leave your comments or email us at cornersofserenity@gmail.com

Steve says.....
Hi Gang!! Rabecca & I were planning on making T-shirts that we would like our friends to wear on a regular basis... With that thought in mind we are looking to you for some input..!! With so many options available we are hoping to narrow things down a bit and at the same time design something everyone would like to wear...!!

1) Would you like something on the back as well as the front of the shirt???

2) Should we use our logo??? or make a design with our name?? Any other suggestions will be appreciated

3) Colors??? Black, Blue, Red, ETC.??? What color would you wear on a regular basis???

Please take a minute and post some comments.... We would like to make something that you will all be happy to wear...

Thanks!!! Look forward to hearing from you soon!!!!

Rockin' on Main Street

Here's how it all went down.....

We arrived early at the cafe to set up and eat. It was a great feeling knowing that in a short while, we would be there... center stage... all ears and eyes on us!!

As time passed our friends and family piled in. Although it was great to have all of them there (especially the ones who traveled), I really loved seeing the faces I didn't recognize, people just visiting the cafe. I even had one surprise from a guy at work (a fellow musician) who showed up with his wife. It was very nice to see them and they said they'd definitely come again.

Nerves were surprisingly low when we started the show. We just kept saying to each other in days prior the we were just having fun and to let loose. I feel like we did that for sure! It definitely was fun and we smoothed over anything in our way.

During our break we had Kool Stream Runnin' come out and fill the time. Unfortunately, this meant no real break for Steve since he was part of that band too. They did awesome as usual and really got the crowd going with some old, familiar favorites.

Over all it was an awesome experience and is now one of the things I can cross off my music life goal list. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to be hired with Steve to play. We made out very well in T.I.P.S too!! Watch out day job!! One visitor (not family or friend) yelled out a thank you after we finished "At Last" and it was reported to me that he immediately left to visit the nearby ATM and came back to drop a little something in for us!! How awesome is that??!!

We'll keep you posted on where we plan to show up next!!!

Groton, MA 01450
www.mainstreetcafegroton.com
Time: 7:00PM - 9:00PM

**There will be a T.I.P.S. jar available by the door. This is our payment for the night. The restaurant is supported by your meal purchases so please come hungry!!-Menu will be posted when available

** The place holds 52 I hear, so please come and get a seat early! It's a restaurant so we really can't save many seats beyond our immediate family. We'd like for everyone to be able to enjoy the music comfortably and since the café is open much earlier you can start claiming them before we play at 7pm.

We'd love to hear your feedback on how the show went! You can either post comments on this blog entry or email us at cornersofserenity@gmail.com and I can post your comments. Thanks and we hope you enjoy!!

Updates- Hudson Graduation Party

So I have to say that guest appearing for Kool Stream Runnin' (KSR) at the grad party was really cool! I love our acoustic duo but there is something really cool about hearing an entire band behind you too.

They played a great show and one thing is for sure... they bring the energy to the room! I think at the beginning people were shy but soon enough there were dancers out on the floor making dancing circles and doing conga lines! My job as the guest was to bring a little softer side and slow things down. It was a lot of fun and I'd definitely do it again sometime!! Everyone played great and a special shout out to my partner Steve who really kicks butt on the electric guitar! He does some pretty smooth acoustic but boy does he come alive on electric!

I'm really glad that they asked me to join them and I'm looking forward to the next gig :)

Updates- Visit to Main Street Cafe

We went to visit The Main Street Cafe as planned. We came before the entertainment started so we could meet Bob the owner. Him and his wife were super nice and you can tell they really love what they do. The meals were awesome and the prices were great! I had the pesto tortellini and I must say it was excellent!! Everyone at the table really enjoyed their dishes. They have pretty amazing desserts too! I shared a ricotta and raspberry filled crepe with ice cream and whipped cream on the side. The whole thing was drizzled in chocolate! MMM soooooo good!!

The band playing was Scott & Russell. They played original acoustic instrumentals that were really great! I'm glad we went to hear it! But... I told my husband we'd make it an early night so we got up around 8:00 and went to say our goodbyes to Bob. While we were chatting, the band took a little break. As we turned to head out, Bob ran over to them and on the spot asked us to play!!! What??? I was so shocked!! I just ate a huge delicious meal and dessert, I was in no position to try singing!! But who could say no to such an awesome offer!!! So we got 4 songs! We played: Annie's Song, If I Ain't Got You, It Ain't Over Till It's Over, and Women Be Wise. There was an audience of about 20-25 people so they got a little dose of what's to come on Sept 2nd.

So for anyone interested in coming... here are a few things to keep in mind:

The cafe is a restaurant. Everything is funded by your purchases of meals or desserts. If you come, come hungry. We are only paid by tips. They love having people come in to stay and relax but they need the support from you to keep this little venue operating and available for musicians.

Music starts @7:00PM but you can come early to get a table and have a bite to eat (although the do serve you all night). The place seats 52 so we hope to pack the place!

What we're up to....

August 19- Made a new twitter account: COSerenity

Open Mic #2- Tupelo 8/5/10

We haven't had much time for practice since the last open mic between events and me getting sick. Steve was on vacation and wasn't planning to come. Fortunately, Ron and Bill talked him into it! Just hours before the show began, Steve asked if I'd be ready to sing... and well... even though I was a little nervous about how I'd sound after getting over a cold... I knew I'd regret it if I didn't try. So we went for it!! Here's how we did! I goofed on one of them but hey it's all for fun right? ;)
We did It Ain't Over Till It's Over and Annie's Song.

Our Gig!!!

So we have our first gig coming up... here is the info:

Date: September 2, 2010
Place: Main Street Cafe
Main St.
Groton, MA 01450
www.mainstreetcafegroton.com

Time: 7:00PM - 9:00PM

Please note: There will be a T.I.P.S. jar available by the door. This is our payment for the night. Any kind souls who are moved to drop in a little something are very much appreciated! ;)

If we pack the house like we did for the open mic... that would be awesome!! We plan on adding a few new songs to our set list so keep an ear out and we hope everyone has a great time!!

Women Be Wise & Hurt- Tupelo Open Mic

Night At The Tupelo

The Tupelo went awesome! What an amazing experience!!! Although just being an open mic, many great artists have played that venue. To know you were on the same stage as them is like no other feeling! I recently saw Mindy Smith there and I was so wishing to be up on that stage too. Thanks Tupelo for making that happen!!

First of all, we want to thank our loving, supportive spouses! We love all of our new fans but it's them who mean the most to be there for us :) Josh was really good about getting some butts in the seats! So many people showed up to see us! It was so awesome to have so much support! Hopefully I'm not forgetting anyone but I counted 28 of our friends/family came!! That makes a crowd of 30 with Steve and I and it didn't go unnoticed!! The host, on stage, asked what was going on on our side of the room and asked who all the people were there to see. That brought the attention of the room directly to us and helped get us a little more exposure. That was really cool!!!

I wasn't really as nervous as I imagined I'd be. Steve didn't seem nervous at all... he's a pro! It wasn't until they announced that the order for performers was ready and I saw that we were third. That's when my nerves kicked in! We played 2 songs. "Women Be Wise" and "Hurt". The videos will be posted above. The host once again got up and said, "I don't think I've ever seen anyone make such an impression on the crowd on their first time being here." What?!?!? That was sooooo awesome to hear!! Can you imagine all the open mics he's hosted!? What a huge complement for us!!!! I wanted to do more!! What was cool too, by the end of he night, they had extra time so they asked all those new to the Tupelo open mic night to come up for another song!!!!! YES!!! The words were barely out of the host's mouth when I responded, yes! I looked over at Steve and we gave each other the excited thumbs up :) Another song!!!!! We did "If I Ain't Got You". We didn't get video of this one but I think it went well based on the applause.

Thanks to my awesome partner, I was so thrilled to have an experience I'll never forget!! Steve played awesome!!!! He even made some margaritas to share ;) Since it went well, we plan on trying to find a coffee shop or restaurant to play a small set. A real gig :) I can't believe how we've gotten this far in such a short time! I'm looking forward to seeing where we can go with this!!!!

The Big Day

Today is the big day for us!! We make our first public debut at the Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry @ 7pm. We get two songs. We will be playing: "Women Be Wise"- Bonnie Raitt and we are still deciding on song #2. We have been practicing "If I Ain't Got You"- Alicia Keys and "Hurt"- Christina Aguilera. So we'll see!!!

This is super exciting because I've never done an open mic! Steve is the pro here and has played many shows so I'm relying on his knowledge and skills to get me prepared.

I'll post again with pictures hopefully and updates!!

Our first gig!!

So we had our first gig together and I have to say it was a blast!! Here's what we played (not in order). We went through our set list and wanted to keep on going... so some songs were the first time we'd ever tried them!!

Chances are that we played more but I can't remember now...

I was really nervous through the first 3 songs but then I pulled it together. Steve did awesome!! He was able to work around my couple of mistakes :) Good thing the crowd didn't really know where they were!! It has been so fun working with Steve and I really look forward to seeing where we can go together! Coffee houses and open mics are in our future! I can see it!! I'm so grateful!! This really is my dream! I don't and never have wanted to "go anywhere" with my music. All I ever wanted was a little gig and to play locally. And now... I see my dream coming true and I couldn't be happier!! I owe it all to my awesome friend, Jen, who set me up with her dad, and Steve, my friend, brother, and partner... the most dedicated, easy going, and truly talented person I've had the pleasure of playing with!! Thanks so much to you both!!!
Also, my wonderful husband, Josh! He believed in me the most even when I didn't. If it wasn't for his efforts and belief in me... I'd still be singing in the shower by myself with no confidence :) So thanks hun!! :)

Ok that souded like the back of a CD cover and I hope it will be someday :) But for now... I'll keep you posted on what happens from here on...

The new band!

Well, I was recently introduced to the musical talents of Steve David. He is an amazing guitar player/singer and really has a great sense for musical arrangement. We've had only 4 practises and have already gotten over 20 songs nailed. We just clicked! He's already in a band, Kool Stream Runnin' so this is going to be a side project with just us two. Unfortunately, I don't play anything... just sing. Hopefully it will be enough to keep the people happy ;) For now we're doing acoustic covers, but there is definitely potential for originals. We've already had a few ideas on some, so in time it's coming I'm sure.

We're playing for the first time in front of our friends this Saturday, June 12th. I'll keep you posted on how it all goes! Cant wait!!
